So I recently came back from my weekend at Sakura-Con in Seattle! I go every year and this year was no exception!
It's such a high, and I can't even begin to say how wonderful it is every year! This year I got to acquired the full 12 Kingdoms collector's edition boxed sets for $70 total (each was being sold at 40, and retails at around 70-80 each on ebay- if you can find it) and we talked him down to 70 for the both. I also acquired:
-7 manga for a total of $24 (that's 2.5 manga at retail price),
-lots of Uwajimaya cake bread (and of course, pocky),
-a silver pocket-watch (battery, not hand wound) with a caged opening (I really wanted a skeleton watch, which shows the gears in the back, but they were really expensive!) for $13,
-a lovely metal hair stick for $5,
-some fluffy cat ears (boyfriend's special request ;D)
-and my boyfriend bought himself a grab-bag for $40, and he got a Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne figurine (1800 yen/about $37), 4 anime discs and a manga in Japanese. The figurine (unopened) alone is worth the whole price of the grab bag- so even though we don't collect, we're very pleased that we got more than our money's worth.at
-And of course, the professional pictures I just recently uploaded after scanning in for $30, which included 8 3x5 wallets, 2 5x7 and 1 large one I forget the precise dimensions. Decent price I think.
It was a very wonderful weekend, and I can't really say so much more except that everyone who loves anything geeky must attend a convention of their interest (a large one) in their lifetime. Whether it's comics, anime or whatever... Please go to one! You will very likely never regret it!
